Mercury and Heavy Metal Toxicity

How do I know if I have toxic metals in my body?

Please answer the following questions:

1. Do you now have, or have you ever had, silver amalgam fillings in your teeth? They are dark gray in color and easy to see.
2. Did your mother have silver amalgam fillings during her pregnancy with you?
3. Did you receive a full course of inoculations as a child?
4. Do you live in a polluted city, industrial area, or agricultural area that uses pesticides?
5. Have you ever worked in a dental office or other industry that uses heavy metal components?
6. Do you eat a lot of fresh or canned fish?
7. Do you drink tap water?

Just about every person on this planet has been subjected to various forms of pollution. The FDA now warns women of childbearing age (all women above age 18) to not eat certain (heavy metal containing) fish.Testing for improper heavy metal elemental balance is not a standard diagnostic procedure.

Scientifically Proven Facts about Mercury and Dental Amalgam

1. Dental amalgam contains about 50% mercury.
2. Mercury is more toxic than lead, cadmium, or even arsenic.
3. Mercury leaves dental amalgam continuously throughout the lifetime of the filling.
4. Mercury vapour is the main way that mercury comes out of the amalgam and is absorbed at a rate of 80% through the lungs into the arterial blood
5. Mercury is cytotoxic, I.E. it kills cells
6. There is no harmless level of mercury vapour exposure.
7. Mercury from amalgam, binds to –SH (sulphydryl) groups. These exist in almost every enzymatic process in the body. Mercury thus has the potential of disturbing every metabolic process.
8. Mercury vapour is absorbed directly into the brain.
9. Mercury crosses the blood brain barrier.
10. Mercury from amalgam will result in a slow build up of mercury in body tissues.
11. Mercury is implicated in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease
12. Mercury from amalgam is stored in the foetus and infant up to 8 times higher than that of the mother.
13. Mercury passes from the mother through the breast milk.
14. Mercury crosses the placenta.
15. Mercury will severely reduce reproductive function.
16. Mercury rapidly depletes the immune system.
17. Mercury will induce a number of autoimmune diseases.
18. Mercury will cause an increase in the number and severity of allergies.
19. Mercury from amalgam is principally stored in kidneys, liver, brain and bowel.
20. Mercury from amalgam causes kidney damage.
21. Mercury from amalgam causes a 50% decrease in kidney filtration as shown in sheep after amalgam placement.
22. Methyl mercury is more toxic than elemental mercury.
23. Mercury from amalgam is methylated in the mouth.
24. After chewing, Mercury vapour levels will remain raised for at least another 90 minutes.
25. Mercury from amalgam will migrate through the tooth.
26. This migration increases if a gold filling is placed over the top.
27. Teeth are living tissue and are a part of our bodies.
28. Teeth have enormous communication via blood, lymph and nerves with the rest of the body.
29. Mercury from amalgam is absorbed into the body at a rate of 3-17 mcgs per day.
30. Mercury release is increased by; increases in temperature, friction and increase in electrical currents.
31. Mercury from amalgam will enter the body as; Elemental Mercury, Inorganic mercury, Vapour, charged Mercury Ions.
32. In the brain Mercury is stored preferentially in the Pituitary gland and the Hypothalamus.
33. Mercury is transported along the axons of nerve fibres.
34. Mercury from amalgam may be stored in every single cell in the body; each area affected will produce its own set of symptoms.
35. Mercury binds to haemoglobin in the red blood cell thus reducing its oxygen carrying capacity.
36. Mercury damages blood vessels reducing blood supply to the tissues. (Micro-angiopathies)
37. Amalgam fillings produce electrical currents, measurable in micro-amps. The central nervous system (Brain) operates in the range of Nano-Amps, this is 1000 x less than a Micro-Amp.
38. Dissimilar metals in the mouth will produce higher electrical currents.
39. Mercury from amalgam will induce Antibiotic resistance and mercury resistance in bacteria in the mouth and the gastrointestinal tract.
40. Brain levels of mercury are in direct linear proportion to the number of surfaces filled with amalgam.
41. The level of mercury in the brain tissue of foetus’s, new born, and young children, is proportional to the number of amalgams in the mothers mouth.
42. Mercury will cause single strand breaks in DNA.
43. Mercury levels in the body cannot be assessed by either blood or urine levels.
44. Mercury from amalgams is the single greatest source of dietary mercury for the general population.
45. Dental personnel are severely effected by exposure to mercury.
